Job Seeking? Then be real.

Are you sabotaging your job search?

If you are being inauthentic, you just might be.

In other words, are you really who you say you are? In the age of social media it is common for people to showcase a polished version of themselves. The problem with that is if the person you are presenting on LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook etc is not who the employer sees during the interview, you’ll have a problem.

The way to combat this is to be realistic in what you share.

When you are working on professional platforms like LinkedIn – or are writing your resume- be  honest about your skills and experiences. Put yourself in the best light possible of course, just don’t overdo it.

When on more informal social media sites, just be authentically yourself. If you’re consistently represented across all social media platforms, then people won’t see contradictions in your language, passions, history and interests in your field.

You’re pretty cool just the way you are. Don’t be afraid to show it. Just. Be. You.
